With over sixty members and growing, Northbourne Lodge is one of the largest in the Masonic Province of Dorset.
Whereas Lodge memberships can sometimes be historically rooted in - or drawn from - specific trades, professions, the military, or sports, Northbourne's demographic attracts candidates from across the socio-economic spectrum.
Northbourne Lodge is number 6827 on the register of the United Grand Lodge of England. Formed in 1949, it meets on the first Friday of each month, February through to June inclusive. Through regular Classes of Instruction, the Brethren strive to improve their Ritual.
During lively post-meeting Festive Board dinners guests get to experience the 'humour, and bonhomie' of Northbourne conviviality.
Charity features heavily at Northbourne. Rarely is an opportunity lost to raise money for charity. Whether it be the annual 'black tie' Ladies Night Gala, or at any of the regular socials and impromptu coffee mornings and BBQ's.
Each year The Worshipful Master chooses local charities to support and regularly sponsors the Dorset Air Ambulance, Julia's House, and any of the national and international causes supported by Provincial and Grand Lodge initiatives.
The Northbourne mantra is best summed-up as… strict observance of Masonic Ritual, gravitas in the Temple, and fun, humour, and pleasure at the Festive Board.
