Welcome to the Lodge of Hospitality and Concord No 8645
We are one of the forty nine lodges which make up the masonic Province of Dorset, which is, very roughly, the ancient county of Dorset. The Lodge was originally founded by a number of Licensed Victuallers, who found that very few other lodges could cater for their particular working hours. That tradition is still very strong, with many of our senior members being retired licensees.
Over the years members with other backgrounds have joined: security, printing, and engineering to name but a few.
In practical terms, we aim to support not only our own Brethren and Widows who have fallen on hard times, but also to put something into the wider community. Indeed, Freemasonry, as a body, has historically always been a major contributor to national charities, especially the RNLI; nearer home, the Province of Dorset supports the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Other local non-Masonic Charities which we, as a Lodge, have supported include local Guiding groups, the Luke Woolner Foundation, and Friends of Dolphin
Meanwhile - 'Hospitable' - Yes ; 'Concord' - Yes. Masonry means many things to many people; we feel we do what it says on the tin.
An important detail for most newcomers is how much time will it take up? There is no doubt that, like many things, the more one is prepared to put into Masonry, the more one gets out of it. But, as an absolute basic, we meet 8 times a year on the 4th Tuesday of months September through to April, (but 2nd Wednesday in December), at Branksome Masonic Hall, 57 Ashley Road, Poole, BH14 9BT.
We warmly welcome anyone interested in finding out more about Freemasonry and visiting Brethren from other lodges.
